We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with experience of working one-to-one with children that have additional educational needs, to join our team at St Stephen's Infant School. You should be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children, and helping them to access the curriculum and strive for their best. The position is for 32.5 hours a week. This includes 30 minutes lunchtime duty daily. Hours of work are 8.30am to 3.30pm, term time only (44.846 weeks per year inclusive of holiday pay). Salary is Kent Range 3 £18,039, pro rata.

Whilst experience supporting children with a range of special educational needs such as Global Developmental Delay, ASD and ADHD would be beneficial; you must have a minimum 'C' grade in English and Maths. Your numeracy and literacy will be of a high standard to support and extend children throughout the infant age range.  Knowledge of the Early Years Curriculum would be beneficial, although not essential. You will work with and support an identified child with specified academic, emotional, social and behavioural needs on an individual basis and be able to communicate effectively with children and adults.  You will have a flexible attitude, a good sense of humour, and be friendly and approachable. Good time management and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

Responsibilities may include: Providing pupil support across all areas of the curriculum, feeding back to the class teacher and keeping some records of progress and behaviour, working closely with other members of staff such as the class teacher and SENCo, support child with social, emotional and wellbeing needs, communicate with parents, prepare resources and some administrative work, carry out lunch duty support.

Above all, you need to be determined to help our children achieve their best, and be prepared to put their needs first. Children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.
