Do you have a passion for cooking and are excited by the prospect of preparing food for primary children and staff?

We are a large primary school looking for a Temporary Catering Manager to run our thriving school kitchen. You will be responsible for providing nutritious, healthy and good quality meals for our staff and children. 

The successful candidate will manage the delivery of the catering operation at Furley Park Primary Academy and act as Line Manager to all the catering staff to ensure that the service and standards provided meet the requirements, objectives and policies of the academy. We will expect you to contribute to ideas of the development and improvement of the catering service assisted by information and experience of good practice in other catering establishments both in the public and commercial sector.

The successful applicant will be required to work 37 hours per week (8.00am – 4.00pm Monday to Friday including a 30 minute lunch break, term time only, with five additional days in the school holidays.

The salary will be Kent Range 5 £19,335 - £20,483 full time equivalent (£16,316 - £17,284 pro rata). The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Have relevant catering qualifications (essential)
  • Be experienced in ordering ingredients, managing stock levels, preparing and serving good quality food (essential)
  • Be able to work in a school kitchen, using catering equipment and leave the environment clean after every session (essential)
  • Be experienced in working in a large school kitchen or catering environment (essential)
  • Have a desire to serve good quality food to children and school staff, in line with government legislation
  • Be a good team player, flexible and prepared to use their initiative
  • Be someone who enjoys working with children
  • Be prepared to work both independently and within a team
  • Be committed to their own professional development
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Have good organisational skills
