The School  BCAT Trust consists of 3 schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years co-educational grammar school in the heart of Canterbury; The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years co-educational non-selective school in Broadstairs and opening within 1-2 years a Free School, Barton Manor School, an 11-18 years co-educational non-selective school co-sited with Barton Court Grammar School.

The Post   Governors wish to appoint two excellent temporary Teaching Assistants to fulfil term time only posts, 27.5 hours per week, plus 1 Staff Development Day. 

Candidates should be able to support the delivery of quality teaching and learning, helping to raise standards of achievement for all students and deliver support programmes that enable students to access the curriculum.  Liaising with teachers regarding planning and differentiation will be key.

At least 2 years' experience of working closely with DSEN is required with a good standard of education, use of technology and knowledge of policies and procedures relating to health, safety, security and confidentiality.

This role is temporary and linked to High Needs Funding.This role is temporary and linked to High Needs Funding until June 2021. If further funding is secured this role may be extended.

Hours of work are 08.40-15.10 Monday-Friday (to include 20 minutes unpaid break and 40 minute unpaid lunch break).

The Trust

Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.

It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020; The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, rated “Good” by Ofsted in March 2023 and Barton Manor Free School, an 11–18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury which opened to Year 7 in September 2022 and as the school grows now has Y7 & 8 from September 2023.

Our School

The Charles Dickens School is a successful, over-subscribed, non-selective 11-18 school located in Broadstairs, Kent. We have a vision and a determination to provide our community with an excellent school and we are making great progress towards this. Our results in 2022 identified us as the most improved school in Kent (out of 101 secondary schools) and one of the most improved schools in the country, and our results in 2023 are similarly strong. Schools Week identified us as the 8th most improved school in the country between 2019 and 2023, for schools with an above average proportion of Pupil Premium pupils. Our recent Ofsted Inspection in March 2023 graded the School "Good" in every category.
