We are looking to recruit a part time Science Teacher to work 1 day at our Tier 4 Hospital school provision at Staplehurst and up to 2 full days either across 1 of our other hubs, but more likely to support our newly revamped online learning offer.

The hours of work are flexible to a degree but will need to meet the requirements of the service ,although we are looking for 3 days a week as described above.

It will be critical to be flexible and adaptable to working in new ways. We are seeking someone that will embrace the use of new technologies and new ways of working as we emerge from the Coronavirus Pandemic and help children with health issues to make academic progress in spite of their personal barriers to learning.

Information about the school

The Kent Health Needs Education Service (KHNES) operates from 1 residential unit (Oakfields) and a range of locally based hubs. Each hub has a mixture of teaching and other specialist staff and provides advice and guidance to schools and services on working with pupils with both mental health and physical health needs as well as the provision of shot term educational placements. Pupils are supported with their education in one of the specialist hubs either full or part time and a growing number are supported by online learning means. These are intended to be short term placements, and are provided as part of a supported reintegration programme. Access to E-learning and tuition in the service is also possible. This is an important appointment in the development of the service.

The purpose and ethos of the Kent Health Needs Education Service can be summarised in one very simple statement:

Ensuring continuity of education, through inclusion and support.

Kent Health Needs Education Service is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and take part in safer recruitment training. All posts within KHNES are subject to a satisfactory reference which will be obtained prior to interview, an enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and check against the ISA Barred List for children.
