Are you looking for an exciting career opportunity in a friendly and supportive school environment?

We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to our hard working support team on a fixed term contract for one year. You will be providing support to groups of children in the classroom as well as some 1:1 support to individuals when needed. An awareness of how to support phonics development and pupil wellbeing would be beneficial as well as experience of the Early Years and Foundation Stage. These posts are likely to be within the foundation stage and KS1 although this is not guaranteed.

Successful candidates will need to have good personal organisation skills as well as the ability to use your own initiative and to work efficiently as part of a team to support our kind, happy and hard-working children. Candidates should have a good level of English and Maths skills in order to provide effective support across a range of subjects. In addition to this, we are looking for someone with a positive outlook and a willingness to work responsively to pupil needs and their requirements. Candidates should have a good understanding of how to support and develop both the academic and social and emotional well-being of our pupils and a willingness to undertake training if needed. An understanding of school safeguarding and SEND policies along with the need for confidentiality would also be beneficial.

The attached job description provides further details

Ideally we are looking for a candidate with a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, however, we will also consider candidates with recent experience of working with children in a voluntary or paid capacity.

This post is for a September 2020 start and is fixed term until the 31 August 2021. The hours of work are 26.25 per week, term time only working between 8:45am to 3pm with 1 hour for lunch (unpaid).

In return we can offer you a supportive and caring team of teachers, support staff and governors, led by a strong and visionary team of school leaders. We value the importance of staff wellbeing and work hard to create a happy and positive environment in which to learn and work.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 8th July with interviews taking place during the week commencing Monday 13th July. However, we will consider early applications before the closing date and would encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Whilst we are currently unable to offer visits to our school we would be happy to have an informal chat with you about the position should you feel this would be beneficial. We urge candidates to take a close look at our website in order for you to gain an understanding of our school ethos and values. Information about the school

Welcome to Godinton Primary School.

When you step inside our school, you will find an exciting environment of creativity and discovery, where children’s natural curiosity is stimulated and their capacity to learn is nurtured. We are very proud of our ethos, which provides a supportive, family atmosphere with an emphasis on ensuring that our children are happy and confident individuals who love coming to school.

At Godinton Primary School, our team works hard to provide every child with a well-rounded education, enabling them to reach their full potential and succeed wherever their strengths and skills may lie. We strive for academic excellence in our pupils but believe that this should be delivered alongside an enriching and creative curriculum.

We enjoy stand-alone Academy status and have been graded as GOOD by Ofsted at our last inspection (March 2018).

Tucked safely away on the Godinton Park Estate, its only when you step within the school gate that you can fully appreciate the school’s privileged outside space.

Our school grounds are both extensive and beautiful, stretching around the entire building and providing a wonderful natural backdrop. Children at Godinton benefit from vast playing fields, adventure play areas, two playgrounds and a thriving wildlife garden and environmental area. A broad area of woodland, also within the grounds, provides an inspiring space for curriculum enrichment, as a stimulus for poetry or creative writing or as the location for scientific nature trails.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school, where you can see for yourself what a special place Godinton Primary School is.

Miss Jill Talbot

Headteacher
