North West Kent Alternative Provision Service is a PRU for secondary pupils who aren’t successful in mainstream school. Most of our pupils are in Year 11 and working towards GCSEs. The rest are short term placements getting the support they need to fit back into mainstream.
We are looking for an English Teacher who can help young people experience and strive towards being successful in a classroom again.
You will work in a well-equipped classroom where small class sizes mean you can give one-to-one support and build meaningful relationships with every pupil. You will get to know each child as a uniquely challenging and rewarding individual, help change their behaviour, attitude and aspirations, and have an educational impact that transforms lives.
You will be fully supported by a team of experienced, dedicated professionals and school leaders who actively support teaching every day. Specialist support staff, learning mentors and counsellors work with teachers to address SEN, SEMH and emotional wellbeing. Our exceptional careers program gives every student careers guidance, work experience and a post-16 destination. Sensible, effective policies on behaviour, assessment and teaching and learning minimise teacher workload without lowering expectations.
Every member of our team is committed to professional improvement through CPD and formal training – including teaching qualifications - paid for by us.

We welcome socially-distanced meetings and tours of the school. We currently have very few students on site each day and everyone follows a strict Covid-19 conduct policy to keep everyone safe.
NWKAPS is a Pupil Referral Unit based in Gravesend. We deliver interventions and alternative curriculum pathways for pupils who have disengaged from mainstream education and who are often disadvantaged and vulnerable.
We provide an inspirational learning environment where specialist interventions raise aspirations and empower pupils to successfully reintegrate into mainstream education or continue to further education, employment or training.
