 The Governors and HeadTeacher are seeking to appoint a practising Catholic to play an integral part in the continuing development of our school. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Teacher and Governors and will be a crucial part of our SLT team. They will be expected to take significant responsibility and show initiative to ensure the well-being of the school community at the highest standard possible.

This post is for a leader of teaching and learning; with responsibility for curriculum, Religious Education and behaviour and attitudes.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a good knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Primary Curriculum;
  • have a clear vision of Catholic Education;
  • be an outstanding classroom practitioner and exceptional role model; passionate in developing high standards and expectations for all pupils;
  • have ambition, enthusiasm, resilience and the ability to inspire and motivate others;
  • be committed to consulting and working with staff, parents and carers, governors, the family of parishes and wider community;
  • work as part of a team and be committed to ensuring high expectations for pupils, staff and themselves;
  • take a full and active role in all aspects of school life and passionately promote a clear child-centred vision;

Information about the school

St Ethelbert’s Catholic Primary School is a one form entry school set in the heart of the Georgian town of Ramsgate, Kent, just a short walk from the beaches overlooking the English Channel. The school had its last Ofsted Inspection in June 2019 and is rated Good. It had a denominational inspection in May 2023 and is rated Outstanding. Our staff and governors are hard-working, caring, supportive and friendly and the children are very well behaved. With our church being on the school site we are building strong links with our local community. Our school motto is ‘High Expectations for all, in the Light of Christ’. Children are encouraged to fulfil their potential through a curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils, develops independence and enquiry-based learning skills and offers appropriate challenges so that they achieve the highest possible standards in all areas of their lives.
