SUBJECT LEADER OF LANGUAGES
Required September 2020
This is a full time permanent position. We welcome applicants from either selective or wide ability settings, who are keen to work with high achieving and motivated students. The successful applicant will be expected to have experience of teaching French or Spanish up to and including A Level, and a proven track record of examination success, as well as the ability to teach French or Spanish in KS3. He/she must be an excellent classroom practitioner who leads by example, able to inspire and ambitious in their expectations of both colleagues and students.
Students at Norton Knatchbull School have historically studied one of French, German or Spanish from Year 7 through to GCSE. Whilst we remain committed to all students studying at least one language to GCSE we have taken the decision to consolidate our languages teaching to two – Spanish and French – with the gradual growing out of German over the next few years. The role will involve the subject leadership of French/Spanish as well as working with and leading TLR holders in French/Spanish and German (whilst this is phased out). This is an exciting time to take on a role which will raise the profile of language study and European culture at NKS, working with a committed and creative team of teachers. The Subject Leader post attracts a TLR 2 (c).
