Would you like to be involved in a Specialist Resource Provision right from the start?

The Governors of this successful, happy school wish to appoint an experienced teacher who will lead our ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) Specialist Resource Provision.

MPS / UPS + SEN allowance (full time, permanent)
Required from: January 2020

Our brand new specialist learning environment will eventually support up to 16 primary aged children placed by the Local Authority, who have an Educational Health Care Plan for Autistic Spectrum Disorder, all within its own building.

Our SRP is due to open to children at Easter 2021, beginning with 4-5 children in the first year, slowly growing to its capacity of 16 children, which will include two classrooms and other learning spaces.

As the lead teacher for this provision, you will work closely with our Deputy Headteacher (Inclusion) and SENCO. During the Spring term of 2021, this will include finalising the provision layout, resources and curriculum, training staff in the mainstream school, supporting with the recruitment of support staff for the SRP and of course going out to meet the pupils and families who have been given a place at our SRP ready for Easter 2021.

All children in our SRP must have access to quality, specialist small group provision with a high adult to child ratio. They will also have opportunities to work alongside mainstream children on a daily basis where appropriate. Part of the role will be to support teachers who have an ASD child in their class. This may include support for the child in mainstream lessons, support with planning/resources and team teaching with class teachers. The staffing is made up of the lead teacher (this post) and teaching assistants, who also work with our increasing number of ASD children in school, as well as those with commissioned places. The provision supports children from Reception to Year 6.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent practitioner with high expectations for all children
  • Have recent and relevant teaching experience
  • Have a very secure understanding of ASD behaviours and ways to successfully manage these in classroom practice (within mainstream or a specialist setting)
  • Have experience of teaching across the primary range
  • Be an effective communicator, who is willing to work in collaboration with colleagues

We welcome visits to our school. Due to the current situation, this will not be possible until at least September. Please call the school at the start of the new school year to book a visit.

If you are excited about joining us in shaping a provision from the very beginning, we would welcome your application.

If you have the ability to inspire and challenge our children to achieve their full potential we would welcome your application.

Closing Date: 6th October 2020 - 9:00am

Interviews: 15th October - all day

               : 16th October - AM

Information about the school

Holy Trinity & St. John’s CEP School is a large primary school serving the central area of the coastal town of Margate. Current number on role is 420 children aged between 4 – 11 years.

The size of the school offers many advantages as we are able to offer a wide range of learning opportunities and have a number of specialist teachers in our employment. However, there remains a sense of family within the school community which is reinforced by our House System and close links with our parents/carers and PTFA.

As a Church of England school, we enjoy strong links with the Parish Church of St. John’s and the Diocese of Canterbury. At Holy Trinity, the Christian ethos of the school goes far beyond the RE curriculum. In work and play children are given the opportunity to find out about the beliefs and values of other people.

Our overriding message that permeates through the school is “Treat others the way you wish to be treated”. As a result, we are a happy and safe school, where children and adults genuinely take great care of each other. Holy Trinity is however more than a place of community and friendship. We strive for high standards of behaviour and academic achievement for all children. We encourage initiative and equip our children with a confidence to enable them to feel positive about themselves.

We were graded as a Good school by Ofsted in March 2023. Our extended school provisions offer our pupils a wealth of opportunities to not only continue their learning but to develop important social skills. Some evidence of our extended school provision can be seen from our achievement in being awarded the Artsmark Gold and School Games Bronze Award.

Holy Trinity & St John's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS checks are required for this post.
