Advert

The Stour Academy Trust are looking to recruit enthusiastic and resilient class teachers to start September 2020.

Due to the collaborative nature of the Trust, these vacancies could be at any one of the following schools:

Water Meadows Primary School

Water Meadows was graded Outstanding for Leadership and Early Years in March 2019, with Overall Effectiveness grade Good. A new housing development opposite the school means the school is benefitted from the addition of four new classrooms and a new library, opening in September 2020. This is the perfect opportunity to join a team that is soon to begin a new chapter in the history of the school.

Sturry CE Primary School

Having been the sponsor school of The Stour Academy Trust since its formation in 2012, Sturry CE Primary School remains at the forefront of providing outstanding teaching and learning. An Outstanding two-form entry school, Sturry is oversubscribed in early years for 2019 and remains a popular primary school in the Canterbury area.

Adisham CE Primary School

Adisham was rated as Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in September 2017, with inspectors praising the school’s “clear and ambitious leadership” and “polite and respectful” pupils.

An Outstanding half-form entry school, Adisham is oversubscribed in early years for 2019 and remains a popular primary school in the Canterbury area. With small year group sizes, Adisham benefits from the Trust’s high-quality training and opportunities for staff whilst maintaining its ‘community and family’ atmosphere.

At interview* we will be able to discuss with you about the potential opportunities available at each school - please use the links above to see more details about each school or visit our websites and social media pages.

*Due to the current government enacted closure of schools in response to the COVID-19 outbreak interviews will be conducted remotely, either by video conferencing or on the phone. If you recently applied for a vacancy in Canterbury (March 2020) prior to the closure of schools there is no need to reapply - we have all previous applications and these will be considered in the short listing also.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. Please note that references may be requested prior to interview, at least one reference must be from your most recent employer.

We can offer all successful applicants:

  • permanentcontract
  • Opportunity to move to other schools within the Trust
  • Full induction process
  • Ever evolving work-life balance package - All staff are able to take their PPA time at home (1 full day every fortnight).
  • Support from a network of experienced teachers
  • Excellent career development opportunities

Information about the trust

Join a supportive and collaborative network of staff at The Stour Academy Trust.

The Stour Academy Trust recognises that our education system needs to quickly and more radically shift to close equity gaps and to better prepare our young people for the 21st century. We are transforming our schools from passive forms of learning focused on direct instruction and memorisation, by moving towards interactive methods that promote the critical and individual thinking needed in today’s innovation-driven economy.

Our pedagogical model combined with the intentional deployment of technology will help us deliver personalised learning in an enabling environment. Technology will accelerate our progress but will not be the driver of our vision.

We aim to nurture a community of learners that challenge thinking, where our staff are empowered to take risks and develop their practice to meet the needs of an evolving school system, which is not held back by traditional restrictions and ideologies.

By limiting routine or unnecessary tasks we allow professionals to focus on learning behaviours and interactions which will promote emotional intelligence and the development of children as life-long, curious learners.

There will be no barriers to achievement within our learning community and our teachers will build strong relationships that facilitate the learning of others. Collaboration will open doors, minds and possibilities and enable individuals to meet their personal goals. .

We are looking for people that:

•Recognise that our current education system needs to radically change to better prepare our young people for the 21st century

•Want to move away from passive forms of learning and move towards interactive teaching methods that promote critical and individual thinking

•Are able to take advantage of the latest technology to deliver personalised learning that is accessible for all children, irrespective of their language skills, reading ability or any other factors that may present learning challenges

•Want to work with other staff as a community of learners that challenge traditional thinking

•Want to develop their own practice to meet the needs of an evolving school system

•Want to develop children as life-long, curious learners

•Want to build strong relationships with children that facilitate their learning

•Want to teach in enabling environments that promote flexibility, collaboration and independence
