Teacher of Computer Science/ICT

Salary Main Scale/UPS depending on experience plus SENA

At Portal House School we are looking for an inspirational, enthusiastic and innovative ICT Teacher to lead and develop this subject area. You will require experience teaching KS3 & 4 ICT also an ability to build excellent relationships with students is also essential.

KS3 - Offering a broad range and balanced curriculum, some topics include; Programming (Scratch, Python, Microsoft Touch Develop), CAD/CAM (Google Sketchup), Web Design(Wordpress), Spreadsheets, Presentation software and Word processing,
KS4 - Currently delivering the Digital Information Technology Syllabus.

To provide strategic leadership to the ICT department
To lead and manage the department to maximise student progress
Design and ensure the implementation of an aspirational and challenging curriculum
Be familiar with the national curriculum for ICT and GCSE syllabus for ICT.
Have a proven record of enabling students to achieve their target grades.
We are looking for a qualified, skilled and enthusiastic individual to teach Computer Science/ICT to KS3 and KS4 students up to GCSE.
Be able to teach to a good/outstanding level.
Have excellent computing. knowledge, skills and understanding
Possess superb behaviour management skills.
Want to teach and develop students who sometimes find learning in the classroom difficult.
Have high expectations and standards.

Information about the school

All 80 students on roll have an EHC plan with SEMH or ASD as their main SEN need. Most have additional associated diagnosed and undiagnosed needs. All have a broadly average cognitive profile with behaviour presenting as the biggest barrier to accessing education.

It is essential that have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs associated with student who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs and or Autism and experience of working successfully with other agencies to help these children achieve positive outcomes. A high proportion of our children are eligible for pupil premium.
