Are you looking for your first teaching job?

Do you want to make a difference?

Have you thought about special needs teaching?

Five Acre Wood School is an Outstanding Special School based over 3 sites in and around Maidstone, Kent. We are one of the largest special schools in the country with 532 pupils on roll aged 2-19 years with profound, severe and complex needs. We are looking for Teachers due to start their NQT year in September 2020.

We understand that these are unprecedented times and that it is difficult for everyone. However, we are still recruiting and can assure you that we will need Teachers to join us in September due to an increase in pupil numbers. Therefore, if you are interested in applying we would urge you to do so. While we may be unable to hold face-to-face interviews we would be able to do this remotely.

The successful candidate will have drive, enthusiasm, commitment to inclusive principles and safeguarding children/young people and will share our vision of ‘only the best will do’ for pupils and staff. We are a Teaching School and part of a collaborative alliance with other special schools. We have been awarded ‘Investors in People - Gold award’ standard, the first school the assessor has awarded this standard at first application in 20 years. This demonstrates we really value our people and want to work with them to fulfil their career ambitions.

In return, you will benefit from a comprehensive NQT support programme and opportunities for further professional development and career development. You will be assigned a buddy and a mentor and we have a very supportive leadership team. Culture is vital to us, it’s not only what we do but how we do it that matters to us, relationships across the whole school staff team are positive, inclusive and helpful.
