PA to Headteacher/Clerk to the Governors/Office Manager

Hours: 37 hours per week; full time

Starting Salary: Kent Range 8

We are seeking to appoint a PA to the Headteacher/Clerk to the Governors/Office Manager to provide an effective and efficient administrative and HR support to the Headteacher as well as being responsible for the day-to-day management of the school office and providing support to the Governors. 

Candidates will have previously worked in a similar role, having been responsible for HR and compliance, will have knowledge of all HR systems, equal opportunities, DBS checking and the importance of the Single Central Record.  You should also have experience of being an efficient and supportive Clerk to the Governing Body; producing agendas, collating papers, minute taking and have an excellent understanding of the role of the Clerk and its importance within the scope of Governance.  All candidates must be resilient, quick to learn and able to take on a number of different tasks.  A calm and positive approach to work is vital.

This role is an essential link between the Headteacher and the Governors as well as the rest of the school community.  You will be responsible for the management of the school calendar, the website and twitter feeds and you will work closely with members of the SLT providing support where necessary.

The successful candidate will present the friendly face of an outstanding school and possess the excellent skills of communication required in all aspects of this key role.  Applicants will be intelligent, flexible, autonomous, be able to work cheerfully under pressure and thrive in the unpredictable daily life of a school.

Using your outstanding organisational and communication skills, you will be required to manage the Headteachers’ diary using Microsoft Outlook.  You will also be required to minute meetings as required by the Headteacher.  It is therefore essential that you have excellent typing and minute taking skills.

Using your good people management skills you will be required to line manage the school office staff ensuring the team is providing a friendly and effective service both face to face and through answering telephone calls.  As Office Manager you will also be asked to implement, update and maintain effective administrative systems.

This role will require a degree of flexibility including attending after school/evening Governor meetings.
