We are recruiting ....

We are looking to appoint two teachers to start in September 2020.

We are a forward thinking school; we have a small hardworking team and we are looking for two like-minded teachers to join us.

We believe that all pupils have the capacity to achieve excellence -  if that is the expectation of the entire school community. You must therefore share this view and be able to demonstrate how your philosophy of teaching / learning will inspire and motivate pupils to do the best they can.

We are looking for teacher(s) who enjoy working as part of a team and will fully participate in the life of the school – this will mean taking an active role in promoting the school in its local community. We strive to ensure that all pupils access a wide and varied curriculum – this will mean that you will – from time to time – have to go the extra mile. This will bring its own rewards and you will be part of a school community that values its staff and recognises their commitment to improving the lives of our pupils. You will also be able to work independently as most classes are mixed aged and require our teachers to plan alone or with the minimum amount of support.

Our school has in a stunning setting; that allows for outdoor learning and our close links with Penshurst Place mean that we are able to use the local area to support learning across a range of subjects.

Our school values are closely linked to our vision of ‘walking in the shoes of others’; we encourage our pupils, through our curriculum, to learn about the past, present and future with this vision in mind.  As a Church school we ask our school community to be ‘good Samaritans’ and show compassion, this is lived out through curriculum enrichment events and activities.

At Penshurst we have whole school approaches to reading, writing and mathematics you will need to be supportive of delivering as well as willing to contribute to the development of these approaches.

Our inclusive learning approach toteaching and learning means that we expect all children to make good progress whatever their challenges and backgrounds. Our school structure is based around the needs of our pupils; so we are looking for teachers who can work across the primary age phases and who  are flexible in their approach. Both posts would suit teachers who are in the early stages of their career and who are looking to gain or develop  subject leadership experience. An interest in leading computing, music or PE would be great but not essential.

We recognise that this is a challenging time for recruitment of teachers; for anyone who is initially interested we would arrange an  informal online meeting with a member of our leadership team. Those shortlisted will be interviewed via a zoom meeting and be given a virtual tour of the school, via a video created by our pupils.

If you think that you would like to be part of our team then please do contact us or complete the Kent Teach application process.

Information about the school

We are a small village church school, at the heart of our community, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have 80 pupils taught in four classes: Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.

The school plays a very active role in the local and wider community and provides many opportunities for children to develop their talents and interests, whether this be in the sporting competitions we take part in or in our wide range of extra-curricular clubs.

Our staff team is small, friendly and mutually supportive, which we believe is a real strength of our school. Our Christian values are important to us and are at the heart of all we strive to achieve. We encourage all members of the school community to walk in the shoes of others; - demonstrating our understanding of the needs of others as well as promoting kindness at every opportunity.
