The Pathway Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a passionate and motivated Head Teacher to lead our talented and supportive team at Meopham Community Academy. We are committed to finding the very best candidate to lead Meopham as the school continues on its journey and builds upon its success: Someone who will lead by example, with integrity, creativity, resilience and clarity and encourage all pupils and staff to succeed.

Meopham Community Academy (MCA) joined the Pathway Academy Trust in 2018. There are now 5 schools within the trust, creating many opportunities for collaborative working with support from both the Chief Executive Officer and the Deputy CEO.

Scope of the Role

The Head Teacher of MCA will:

  • Be responsible for the successful organisation, management and development of the school within the framework of The Pathway Academy Trust's vision, ethos and policies.
  • Be accountable for and take responsibility for the performance of the school: Raising educational standards, promoting the safeguarding and welfare of all children, implementing a curriculum that is relevant, exciting and engaging, whilst providing inspirational and professional leadership and establishing a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations for all.
  • Be a role model and ambassador for The Pathway Academy Trust, upholding its values and aims.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

These are centred on the four domains in the National Standards of Excellence for Head Teachers. Further details are to be found in the attached brochure.

To find out more about our school and whether you would like to become part of The Pathway Academy Trust team, please take a look at our website. Visits to the school are strongly encouraged and should be arranged through The Pathway Academy Trust.

Meopham Community Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Check).

Information about the school

Meopham Community Academy is a two form entry primary school set in a beautiful village location and the school prides itself on providing a happy, safe and caring environment for all its pupils. We are a busy, friendly and popular school with a warm and welcoming ethos; recognised by all who visit!

The staff, parents and governors of our school work together to provide the best for the families we serve. We want our children to enjoy their time and education with us and to achieve the highest possible standards in all aspects of their lives. We are very proud of our school and the high standards of behaviour and learning that our children achieve.

Our broad curriculum, wide range of extra-curricular activities and support for pupils were all recognised in the most recent, short Ofsted inspection in October 2018, where the school continued to be rated as "Good".

We are now part of The Golden Thread Alliance and we work closely with the other schools in the trust.

The Golden Thread Alliance is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and therefore is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure. In line with KCSIE guidance, paragraph 220, all candidates who are shortlisted will be subject to an online search. This search is not part of the shortlisting process itself and all shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to address any issues of concern resulting from the search.

Two references are also required prior to commencement of employment.
