Do you want to join a dynamic and vibrant team?

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a part of a team that is keen to cultivate a love of learning and teaching and which values value wellbeing and creative learning. If you can make a real difference to children's lives, enjoy challenges and have a commitment to raising achievement this could be the job for you.

We are looking for a teacher who can work across the range of primary school, from EYFS to Year 6. The teacher will cover some PPA sessions, release time for teachers as well as some intervention groups across both key stages.  It will involve working in partnership with the wider school to help our school to continue to develop.  We have a range of experienced and new staff who provide a happy and supportive environment for all new stakeholders - adults and children alike. The teaching will mainly be consistently timetabled, but you may be asked to cover occasional teacher absence.

You will be someone who can help us ensure all our children achieve their potential and who:

  • Is passionate about teaching and learning • Has high expectations of children’s progress, attainment and behaviour • Has high personal expectations of their own achievement and professional development • Is creative, energetic and has a good sense of humour.

The successful candidate will also have a clear vision for their part in raising standards and be able to engage, motivate and support pupils, staff and parents, with enthusiasm and sensitivity. Most important of all is to really care for and value our children!

We can offer:

  • Happy, highly motivated children who are hungry to learn • Dedicated and enthusiastic staff • Excellent relationships with parents • Supportive governors

A visit to the school as part of the application is very much encouraged.

The position will be on the Main Pay Scale and can start as soon as interviews are over. It is a full time role, initially up until the end of academic year - July 2020 - but could develop into a permanent teaching post.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Information about the school

A school was first established in the village of Horton Kirby in 1857 and the present school, which combined the village schools of Horton Kirby and South Darenth, was opened by the Bishop of Tonbridge in 1970. The building consists of eleven classrooms. Adjacent to these are libraries, resource and play areas. The school hall is used for dining, assemblies, gymnastics and games. The roll is currently 220 organised into 9 classes.

The school has developed close links with the community and the Church. Parents are always welcomed into the school and many work alongside the professional staff supporting reading, maths skills, computing, cooking, etc.

We aim to provide a caring and stimulating atmosphere at the school alongside high expectations of behaviour for both staff and children. To this end staff work co-operatively and professionally together to provide for our pupils. As of May 2023, the school has been graded GOOD in all areas other than Early Years in which we received an OUTSTANDING grading by OFSTED.
