We are looking for an excellent practitioner with a passion for supporting children with Additional Needs. If this is you, then please read on.

From Term 6 (01/06/2020) we are looking for a part time Assistant SENCo, working three days per week, to support our Assistant Headteacher in the delivery and management of high quality Special Needs Education throughout the school. This post is to cover 9 months Maternity Leave and will end on 31/03/2021.

This is a non-class based role and an ideal opportunity for someone already qualified as a SENCo or for someone thinking about the next step in their career. You will be working alongside our Assistant Head supporting children from Early Years (including Nursery) to Year 6 and would be involved in all aspects of the SENCo role. A suitable candidate should feel they have the experience or the potential to:

  • Support colleagues to meet the needs of individual children
  • Work in close collaboration with staff
  • Support individual children in their learning
  • Liaise regularly with parents / carers
  • Contact and work with a wide variety of professionals
  • Complete and monitor provision maps / paperwork to support children
  • Chair professionals meetings
  • Complete all necessary paperwork for statutory assessment and high needs funding

Castle Hill has an excellent reputation for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and we are looking for someone to join us in our vision for inclusion and support. We have a much higher than average number of children identified as having Additional Needs and we pride ourselves in the education that they receive.

We would also be willing to discuss opportunities for training or to talk to someone who would prefer a more full time role. A September 2020 start will also be considered. Please do not hesitate to get in contact with our Headteacher Pete Talbot for an informal discussion or any further details.

Information about the school

Castle Hill is a lively two form entry Community Primary School with a Specialist Resource Provision for Hearing Impaired children. We also have responsibility for running a large and thriving Nursery which shares its premises with the Children Centre on our grounds. The school is situated in an urban area of East Folkestone, on a deceptively large site.

Our children are friendly and lively and deserve the very best we can give them. We are extremely proud of the school and would be delighted to show you around.

The school is committed to the welfare and safeguarding of all our pupils.

We have a fantastic building and facilities that were refurbished / rebuilt in 2010.

Informal visits to the school are welcomed - we would love to show you around.
