Advert

Offham Primary School are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic teaching assistant to support our wonderful Year 1 class teacher during afternoon lessons and to work in our after school club after the school day finishes.

Hours:

Monday - Thursday 1.00pm - 3.30pm supporting in class and with special needs interventions and 3.30-6.30pm working in our after school club.

Fridays 8.30am-2.00pm supporting in class and 2.00pm-6.30pm working in our after school club (with an hours lunch break and 2 x 15 minute morning and afternoon breaks)

Both roles will be paid at KR3 (Kent Range 3) and will be part of a single contract. This contract will be a fixed term contract until July 2020 in the first instance, but is likely to be extended to become a permanent role at the end of the academic year.

At Offham we really value the support and guidance our teaching assistants offer our children and use them fully in all aspects of teaching and learning to maximise children's opportunities. The role would ideally suit someone who is passionate about getting the very best out of children and will work confidently, under the teacher’s guidance, to prepare and deliver parts of lessons to small groups of pupils.

At Offham we will invest fully in your training and professional development. We encourage all of our TA's to develop a specialist area for support in the afternoons such as speech and language support or nurture expertise. The school is happy to fund training courses and opportunities to help our team develop to their full capacity. We have a positive track record of helping Teaching Assistants progress to becoming teachers and this role would suit someone looking to develop in this way in the future. At Offham we run a peer to peer support and development programme and will therefore encourage you to work with a partner to become a reflective practitioner.

From April 2020 we are taking our wraparound care in house and are committed to delivering the highest quality of after school care to our children and their families. As an after school club assistant you would work with our after school club manager to deliver activities and provide a small evening meal to our children.

A good standard of general education such as GCSEs / A levels or an NVQ together with good numeracy and literature skills is desirable. Some previous experience of working with children is necessary along with the ability to relate well to children and adults, understanding their needs and being able to respond accordingly.

The post holder will be someone who will uphold the school's policy regarding the safeguarding of pupils and promoting the welfare of children. The post holder will require an enhanced CRB disclosure and proof of eligibility to work in the UK even if you are a UK citizen.
