Do you have a passion to work with children in an early years setting?  Are you willing to go the extra mile to give our pupils the best possible start in life? 

We are looking for a suitably qualified nursery nurse or TA with a minimum of Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning to work in our Reception class with 4 and 5 year old children.  Experience of this age group would be preferred but not essential.  The role involves daily interaction with pupils and the class teacher, following lesson plans and preparing the learning environment.  You will be required to make observations of the children’s learning to assist in the assessment at the end of the year.  This is currently done using photographs and hand written notes as well as the use of the iPad. Our children are delightful to teach and you would be joining a happy, successful school with our setting allowing for learning inside and outside of the classroom.  Our aim is to make a positive difference to all our pupils and families.

Your role would also include working alongside our lunchtime supervisors to provide our children with lunchtime supervision and happy playtimes, encouraging them to play games and enjoy social interaction.

You'll need:

  • sensitivity and understanding for building good relationships with children
  • excellent verbal communication skills for motivating children to learn
  • active listening skills to understand the childrens' needs
  • patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • to be flexible and open to change for working on different activities
  • to enjoy working with other people
  • the ability to teach pupils how to do something
  • the ability to create the best conditions for learning or teaching new things
  • to be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
  • A sense of humour and enjoyment of cake!

Information about the school

Crockenhill Primary School is a community primary school for children aged between 4 and 11 years, occupying an attractive site, at the heart of the village of Crockenhill. We are a one form entry school, with capacity for up to 210 pupils. The school is close to the town of Swanley and boasts excellent road and rail links to London and Kent. Our buildings run seamlessly from Victorian to new build and the classrooms are bright and welcoming. We have a dedicated art room, computer suite and library and several breakout spaces for small group work. The school also has a small wildlife garden and large playing field with an area dedicated to our forest school. The school is very proud of its sporting achievements and actively engages in many tournaments.
