Part-time Business Manager

We are looking to recruit an exceptional professional to manage all aspects of the financial and business services at the school.  The successful applicant will be part of the school’s Leadership Team, manage the school’s finances, personnel, contracts and website.  The role requires flexibility, tact and problem solving on a daily basis. Therefore it is essential that the applicants are professional, approachable and very effective communicators.

 The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • the school’s core values
  • relevant professional qualifications and business acumen
  • strong financial and administrative background, with proven track record of financial management
  • evidence of successful management of a diverse team
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to work under pressure and be able to meet deadlines
  • high standards to do a really good job at all times
  • flexibility and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Previous experience of working as a School Business Manager is essential.  We are seeking  someone with a strong financial background with a genuine commitment to helping us deploy the resources available to best possible effect in a school context.  Appropriate professional development and training will be available to address any skills gaps in the successful candidate.

Information about the school

In 2024, Ofsted graded St John's as a good school in all areas.

The school, based in the heart of Canterbury, is a larger than average primary school, with two classes in each of Years 1 to 6. The school has provision for Early Years Foundation Stage children, with a nursery and two reception classes. In addition to our teaching team, we have a supportive pastoral team including a Head of Inclusion and Welfare, Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Personal Development, SENDCo, EAL Specialist and a FLO. The school is a Church of England voluntary controlled school.
