Herne Bay High School is a hugely successful school that serves the Herne Bay coastal area of North Kent. We have a comprehensive intake and are significantly oversubscribed in all year groups and in February 2018 Ofsted rated us good with aspects of outstanding.  Whilst academic rigour and examination success is at the forefront of our development, we passionately believe that a broad, balanced approach to education is important and as such we place tremendous emphasis on the Creative and Performing Arts and Sport as a cornerstone of a young person’s educational journey.

Our large and highly successful English department is central to our commitment to ensure high quality literacy skills across the curriculum.  In particular, we have developed several innovative strategies to improve student progress in reading and writing, including our bespoke reading curriculum. The sixth form curriculum is wide and varied and could offer the successful applicant exciting opportunities to be involved with Key Stage 5 teaching.  We currently offer English Literature and English Language/Literature at AS and A level as well as the EPQ course.
