Come and join our team at Thurnham C of E Infant School.

A caring and proactive Learning Support Assistant is required, to start as soon as possible, to work with children with high levels of anxiety within both the classroom and the nurture group.

Please note, the duration of the employment will only be for the period the child is at the school.

Experience of working within a Nurture Group setting is essential for this role and Nurutre Group training is highly desirable.

Ideally, in applying for this post you will:

Have a good understanding of children's needs, both pastorally and educationally
Have an understanding/experience of working with children with attachment needs.
Understand how to use and complete a Boxall Profile
Be able to remain calm under pressure
Have good levels of literacy and numeracy
Have excellent communication skills
Be able to adapt their style to meet the needs of the children as they present at the time- with an awareness of de-escalation and relaxation techniques
Have experience of supporting children in a learning environment
Be able to liaise with the class teacher, providing feedback and keeping records of progress and behaviour as required
Prepare resources and undertake administrative tasks as required
Work as part of the team and have a sense of humour

The responsibilities will include:

Supporting individual pupils and small groups of pupils and address their specific needs - as directed by the class teacher and/or SENCO
Work as part of the Nurture team assisting with the planning/preparation and delivery of the sessions
Working in collaboration with the class teacher to set personalised targets
Delivery of interventions, as directed by the class teacher
Supervision of pupils at break times

This position is over 5 days a week and could be a jobshare.

Hours to be discussed- a minumum of 15 hours per week if two people.
