St Nicholas CE Primary Academy are currently recruiting for a specialist Teaching Assistant with a strong background in working with children with social, emotional and mental health needs and behavioural difficulties. Salary: KR3 - £17365 for a full time post. This post is part time and hours will be discussed at interview but could include mornings or afternoons.

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced TAs to join our dedicated and highly effective team. The school prides itself on providing our students with much more than academic support within lessons and we are looking for people willing to commit to providing the very best all round education for our young people.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with hard to reach individuals and be able to build rapport quickly to maximise pupils learning potential. We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience of working in an early years setting, a school or working with vulnerable children and adults.

The Headteacher would like to speak to individuals who:

  • Can offer experience of working with children and young people in the last 12 months, whether this is in an educational setting or child focused experience
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant Level 2 or above qualification or equivalent
  • Hold at least 6 months previous experience of working within a special needs setting, including working with students with Autism and SEMH difficulties
  • Can offer specialist skills such as sign language (e.g. British Sign Language, Makaton, Sign-a-Long), PECS or manual handling
  • Have a calm and patient manner with the ability to communicate well with others

The role provides an exciting and excellent opportunity to work in a well-resourced environment and to work with an established, experienced and motivated team.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of education with a minimum requirement of English and Mathematics at GCSE (C) or equivalent.

As part of the interview process if shortlisted, you will be observed working with children, and so a visit to the school to gain an understanding of our ethos and practice is advised (contact the school should you wish to book a visit).
