Maternity

Required from April 2020

Are you a highly skilled, dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher of Drama or Performing Arts looking for an exciting new opportunity?

The successful candidate will be a facilitator of people at all levels and will develop strategies and initiatives that have longevity, relevance and meaning throughout the whole school. As well as working with other departments, relationships will have to be developed with the extended school and relevant outside agencies, in order to ensure that Drama remains popular and accessible to all students.

Giving students the opportunity to develop their creative skills is critical to this role along with a pro-active approach in encouraging young people to engage in Performing Arts.

Working within our Arts College you will deliver creative and engaging lessons to our students to inspire them and progress their learning and academic achievement.

You will be required to have a creative approach and commitment to lead extra-curricular groups and intervention classes. We have an extensive programme of additional enrichment opportunities to see live performances, deliver community projects and collaborative performances.

In return, you will enjoy a unique working environment in the beautiful town of Tenterden in the heart of the Weald of Kent.  We invest in our staff and you will be given a full induction programme and the support you require to progress wherever you are in your career. All teaching staff are provided with an IT device, discounts and offers with Kent Rewards. There is an independent nursery based on the school site which offers discounts to Homewood Staff.

An application form and more information can be accessed on the following websitewww.homewood-school.co.uk or please contact Miss Ellie Reid, Human Resources at the above address.

Closing date for applications: 5th January 2020

Information about the school

Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre is a mixed 11 – 18 wide ability school with Academy status with 2000 students including 350 in the Sixth Form. We are part of Tenterden Schools’ Trust working in collaboration with local primary schools and nurseries serving the Wealden town of Tenterden and the surrounding villages. The school is situated on the edge of Tenterden and enjoys a large semi-rural site overlooking open countryside. Home Farm Nursery is based in the grounds of Homewood School.

Homewood has excellent facilities for all its students and our specialisms in Performing Arts, Applied Learning and the Rural Dimension underpin our approaches to learning which are designed to raise achievement across the whole student body. We aim to maintain and develop the cultural aspirations of the school community in line with our priorities of “belonging” and “respect” and offer a broad range of curriculum opportunities in all subject areas. This also extends into the local community through partnerships across primary, secondary and higher education sectors as well as non-educational community partners.

Homewood provides a secure and caring learning environment in which all students can flourish and succeed. It is a school renowned for its support for students’ wellbeing. Heads of Community provide academic and pastoral leadership for the students in their Community, supported by dedicated form tutors, a Family Liaison Officer and Assistant Head of Community. A range of other staff including counsellors and a qualified nurse help and support the students through their time at Homewood. Consideration and respect for each other is central to our work and we are justly proud of our students’ achievements.

I hope you will be inspired to submit an application to join us. If you are successful, you can be assured of a very warm welcome and a real opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the young people of this part of Kent.
