Five Acre Wood is a successful outward looking and expanding District Special School based over 3 sites in and around Maidstone, Kent. We currently have 530 pupils on roll aged 2-19 years with profound, severe and complex needs.  We are looking for people with a positive approach to join us who share our vision of ‘Only the best will do’ for all our students and staff.  We have been awarded ‘Investors in People - Gold award’ standard, the first school the assessor has awarded this standard at first application in 20 years. This demonstrates we really value our people and want to work with them to fulfil their career ambitions.

The purpose of the job is to ensure the best possible outcomes for Children and Young People (CYP) with Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) aged 0 – 19/24 by working collaboratively with professionals in statutory and non statutory organisations.

 

All specialist teachers will have a specialism in one or more areas of need:

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN), Cognition and  Learning Difficulties (C&L), Social, Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD), Early Years, Hearing Impairment (HI), Visual Impairment (VI), Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI), Physical Impairment (PI) and will work across one or more phases of education: 0-5 Foundation Stage (including children attending PVIs) , 5-11 KS 1&2, 11-19/24 KS3&4 + Post 16.
