Hours of work:  08.15 – 15.45  (one hour lunch unpaid)  5 days per week - term time plus 2 training days             

 

Responsible to: Deputy Headteacher, Director of Student Services

 

Responsible for:  Managing the achievement and reintegration centre in order to ensure all students have equal access to and opportunities for learning.

 

The centre is a facility for the provision of one to one support, or independent supervised study and learning. Students will visit the centre for a range of purposes:

  • Catch up following a period of absence
  • Need for support in particular aspects of their work
  • A need to work outside the classroom setting for emotional or behavioural reasons

 

Specific responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a safe learning environment for students
  • One to one work to help overcome behaviour problems and promote self-esteem
  • Assisting with the integration of students who join outside of the usual cycle
  • Liaising with subject teachers in the process of assessing student needs and assisting with the provision and adaptation of appropriate teaching materials and strategies
  • Working with students from other schools on short term placements, liaising with their home school
  • Supporting and implementing the School’s policies and procedures
  • Preparing and updating display boards
  • Assisting students to achieve their full potential by working closely with staff, the welfare team and parents.
  • Creating personalised learning interventions to support students back into lessons
  • Gathering and sending work home to students when required
  • Supporting year managers with transition and administrative tasks
  • Preparing papers and minutes for Welfare meetings

Requirements:

Essential

  • Confidence to support, direct and co-ordinate learning activities with students
  • Excellent communication skills and accurate record keeping
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality linked to home, student, teacher, school work
  • Sympathetic to the ethos of the School

Desirable

  • Experience in supporting students
  • Strong computer literacy skills
