Teacher of English (MPS/UPS)

January 2020

St Simon Stock Catholic School is a high achieving year 11-18 school, which has sustained excellent results at GCSE and A Level that grades our students’ progress in the top 10-15% of all students nationally.  In addition to our established GCSE, A Level and BTec curriculum, we also teach the International Baccalaureate Careers Pathway in our Sixth Form, and in 2019 achieved IB World School Status. We have an excellent reputation, for our students’ exemplary standards of behaviour.

The English department is a high achieving department in our school at both GCSE and A Level. Teaching up to A Level English would be an advantage. The position will provide good opportunities for professional development for a suitably aspirational teacher, whether qualified or newly qualified to teach up to GCSE and A Level.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential, and instil a love of learning English, both through practical and theory work.
  • Be part of a team and will contribute to the ongoing development of this successful English department.
  • Be comfortable promoting Catholic values and ethos, but does not necessarily have to be Catholic.
