We are seeking to appoint a confident and self-motivated team player with excellent organisational and administrative skills, ideally with some experience/understanding of clerking Governing Body meetings. Although knowledge of school governance would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training is available. The successful candidate needs good knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and the use of email.

Main Duties:

  • Support the Governing Body and Headteacher in all matters relating to school governance
  • Prepare meeting agendas and circulate all meeting documents to governors in a timely manner, as instructed by the Chair of Governors or nominated governor
  • Ensure all meetings are properly constituted
  • Record accurate meeting minutes
  • Uphold any codes of practice adopted by the Governing Body and observe the rules of confidentiality
  • Ensure statutory policies are in place and up-to-date
  • Maintaining the Governor pages of the school website (full training will be given)
  • Gain an understanding of the DfE Governance Handbook and related documents
  • Maintain an awareness national and local governance initiatives
