Meadows School is seeking an experienced/aspiring, enthusiastic and dynamic Head of English to work across Key Stages 2, 3, 4 and 5 to lead English in the school with a small, committed department.

  • Oversight of all key-stages and qualifications offered in the subject

  • Ability to lead an intervention programme to support the least/most able

Meadows School is a successful non-maintained residential and day special school (7-19 year olds) on a main campus and off-site primary provision run by Barnardo’s, providing education for students with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Speech and Language difficulties and associated learning difficulties.

Information about the school

Meadows School is a successful non-maintained day and residential special school (7–19) and off-site junior campus run by Barnardo's. The school provides education for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Speech and Language difficulties and associated learning difficulties. Students all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or are in the process of obtaining one. We offer placements on a 38 week Monday-Friday basis. Meadows School provides education and care for up to 90 students (on a day or residential basis). The main campus is a 19 acre site with a large purpose-built school building, a gym block and post-16 provision. There are 8 classroom bases and several subject-based rooms including; science lab, IT suite and Food Technology area. A mixed-gender residential unit is sited in the local community. The recently-opened junior site is in Tunbridge Wells and caters for KS2 students. Currently some 80 staff are employed across the school.
