Are you an enthusiastic member of the community, with time to spare and the passion to contribute to the education of local children? If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

Eastchurch CE Primary School is currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join its Governing Body. Governors do not need to be an expert in education but they do need to be interested in the school and the welfare of its pupils. Other skills such as finance, legal, HR and general business skills are very valuable additions to a governing body. The Governing Body operates at a strategic level and is not involved in the day-to-day running of the school.

Can you:

  • Get involved and share your skills with the Governing Board
  • Build a thorough knowledge of the school and its community by both supporting and constructively challenging the school to ensure it is working efficiently and effectively towards achieving its vision and providing a high quality education for all its pupils.
  • Attend and contribute to regular Governing Body meetings
  • Build relationships with a range of people and work as part of a team
  • Attend training to build the knowledge and skills of the Governing Body

In return, the Governing Body offers you:

  • An opportunity to make a difference to our school and the outcomes for our pupils
  • An insight into the wider perspective of the school
  • Access to quality training
  • Development of transferable skills as well as sharing existing skills and experience with others
  • The support of an experienced governor and a structured induction

Volunteering as a governor is a great way to contribute to your local community, meet new people and improve the lives of local children. If you would like to find out more about how you can contribute to governance at our school, or have any questions about anything, then please contact Caroline Wiles, School Business Manager.

Information about the school

Eastchurch Primary School is a nurturing, inclusive, learning community that celebrates all possibilities. Through a journey of faith and exploration, we strive to enable all to grow as resilient life-long learners who value themselves and others. Rooted in God's love and our Christian values, we are a nurturing, inclusive community where all can flourish and achieve their full potential. Our vision flows from our biblical strapline taken from Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Together with our vision our core values of courage, forgiveness, honesty, kindness, love and respect are at the heart of everything we do.

As a single form entry school in a village location, we aim to offer a family friendly and unique experience for staff and families. Our school has a well established Christian ethos and our staff team work together to ensure our children experience success and excitement in their learning every day. We are a member of Aquila, The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust (www.aquilatrust.co.uk).

We are proud of our ECO status and take an active role in the environment and community life. We value outdoor learning.

Eastchurch Church of England Primary School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all trustees, staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced Criminal Record Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service along with other relevant employment checks, online recruitment checks and overseas criminal background checks, where applicable. All new trustees, employees and volunteers will be required to undertake safeguarding training on induction which will be regularly updated in line with statutory guidance.

Please be aware that references will be taken up prior to short listing. We reserve the right to interview before the closing date.
