Specialist Teaching Assistant required 1:1 support.

This is a fixed term position to support a Y2 child with a EHCP whilst High Needs Funding  is in place and will be reveiwed in July 2020, with a view to extend.

The post is for 30 hours p/wk (8.30am-3.00pm - includes 30min lunchbreak) Term time only (38weeks p/yr) 

We are looking for:

  • An experienced 1:1 Specialist Teaching Assistant to support a Y2 child working within the Early Years curriculum 
  • Someone with SEN experience, particularly speech, language and communication
  • Ideally someone with knowledge of Cued Articulation and other communication systems
  • Someone with a direct approach and high expectations for behaviour
  • Someone with a sense of humour, able to appreciate the joy in our learning community and engage with our supportive parent/carers.

Information about the federation

Newington CEP School and Lower Halstow School are single form entry village Primary Schools for children aged 2 - 11 and 4-11. Both have close links with their village church and community and spacious school grounds. Our schools offer a safe secure learning environment and are well equipped with a variety of resources and healthy budget for projects.

Newington was extended in 2000 with 4 additional classrooms and library and the original building has been fully renovated with the addition of an outdoor classroom and MUGA. It has an on-site nursery building catering for pupils from 2 years old. Lower Halstow School moved into its present building in October 2005 and offers many modern facilities such as a sports hall, running track, outdoor classroom, ICT suite & separate dining hall.

We have supportive governors and parents and our pupils are happy, polite, enthusiastic and are proud of their school. We are constantly striving to improve the opportunities for all and are always looking for new ways to make learning engaging and effective.
