Due to increasing pupil numbers and our continuing development we have a vacancy for a qualified teacher to join our friendly and supportive staff team. 

We are looking for a positive and motivated professional who will ideally have experience of working with children with autism and associated social and communication difficulties. Experience of working within the Primary or Early Years phases would also be an advantage but not essential. 

The successful candidate will either be an experienced and successful SEN teacher who wants to develop their career, an NQT who can demonstrate they are going to add to the school or a mainstream teacher who has a desire and passion to move to special needs teaching.

Ideal candidates will:-

  • hold a recognised Teaching qualification
  • be resiliant and have a good sense of humour 
  • have experience of teaching pupils with special educational needs in either a mainstream or specialist setting
  • be flexible and keen to learn 
  • be able to differentiate their approach for pupils with a range of abilities
  • have excellent interpersonal skills with students, parents, professionals and other adults
  • be an effective team player with proven ability to coordinate and direct the work of classroom support staff.

Information about the school

Stone Bay School specialises in providing both day and residential education for pupils aged 4 to 19 years who have a diagnosed autistic spectrum disorder, along with profound, severe and complex needs We currently provide for around 80 pupils.

This is a very exciting time to be joining the school as our roll is continuing to grow and from September 2019 we expanded our provision to include KS1.

Our school is situated on Stone Bay in Broadstairs in a beautiful Victorian building overlooking the sea. The local coastal environment provides many unique and enjoyable learning opportunities for our pupils.

We believe that every student is entitled to the very best possible education, delivered in an environment that is safe, caring and happy. We use an innovative and personalised curriculum which meets the needs of all pupils with a strong focus on communication, engagement and independence.
