Hours                21.25 per week full time.

We are a small school in the centre of Chatham, and a founder member of the Medway Anglican Schools Trust.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Care Taker, who will join us to build upon our successes and help shape the future of St John’s Church of England Infant School.

This is a permanent position, working ­­21.25 hours per week Monday to Friday.

You will be a responsible person and competent in all aspects of site maintenance. It is imperative that you ensure the premises are secure, safe and well-maintained at all times to reflect the standards of education and behaviour within the school.

The main aim of the role will be to undertake general caretaking and handyperson duties and also to ensure the completion of duties and basic maintenance tasks in a timely manner.

You will also:

Ensure that the buildings are well maintained

Be responsible for opening and locking of premises

Undertake a range of general and cleaning duties

Use specialist hand tools (screwdrivers, spanners, socket sets, allen keys etc

Undertake minor daily maintenance

Order appropriate materials and equipment needed to maintain the school premises.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well individually, as well as a team.

Training will be provided on the job through a combination of instruction and practice or by attending training sessions

Knowledge of health and safety practices/COSHH and manual handling would be useful

 Experience of caretaking/handyperson duties or similar and be able to use a range of tools and equipment.

Able to work at height.

Ability to prioritise and organise own workload whilst meeting deadlines.

Ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.

Currently a Temporary contract for 1 year.
