Due to the recent promotion of the current post holder to headship, we wish to appoint an experienced special needs practitioner as Assistant Headteacher to play a significant role in supporting this outstanding school. This role represents an excellent opportunity for someone to use their deep understanding and strong commitment to educating children with special educational needs, and to be directly involved developing our personalised provision, while continuing to promote our existing high standards.

We are looking for a caring, inspiring and motivated individual with experience of successful middle or senior leadership who has excellent interpersonal skills, strong leadership skills in managing and motivating staff, enjoys teaching and can help pupils to enjoy their learning. A background in ASD, PMLD or SLD is desirable, but a dynamic and enthusiastic approach is essential.

The successful candidate must have an understanding of how to evidence pupil progress and outcomes alongside excellent curriculum knowledge. A commitment to providing the very best for our pupils is paramount.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for:

  • Leading on the schools curriculum
  • Leadership of the primary phase, including EYFS
  • Oversight and analysis of assessment and accreditation
  • Ensuring high expectations for pupil progress, academic and personally
  • Supporting other leaders to raise the quality of education, including teaching and learning
  • Oversight of staff CPD
  • Daily cover arrangements across the school

This would be an exciting and rewarding opportunity for career development, within a supportive and experienced leadership team.

Applications from staff in both mainstream and special schools are welcomed.

Informal tours will be held on 16th and 17th September from 1.30pm-2.30pm and 19th September from 11.00am to 12.00pm. Please contact Leigh Picton on 01474-365485 to book your visit.
