Food Technician

Required 27th August 2019

18.5 hours per week.  Term Time plus 5 staff development days.

Band 4 £17,754 - £18,611, (£7,515.27 - £7,878.04 pro rata),  per annum

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Design and Technologies Department. Working alongside the food subject teacher  you will help ensure that a safe, effective and efficient technician service is delivered, including, but not restricted to:

  • Support learning by assisting students and teaching staff during all practical classes, to include demonstrations of skills, technique and equipment use.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a clean, orderly and safe working environment.
  • Prepare, operate and set up equipment and materials required for demonstrations and class practical work.
  • Ordering and collection of supplies of both food and equipment.

The Design and Technologies Department is committed to delivering practical and engaging lessons that meet the needs of all students.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be proficient in technical, practical and computer skills.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, pupils and suppliers.
  • Have the ability to multi-task and prioritise workload.
  • Have a good understanding of kitchen health and safety.
  • Be friendly and efficient.

The daily hours of work will be determined annually between the hours 8am and 3pm, depending on the timetable. The appointed candidate will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the department.
