Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Part-time - 3 Days per Week (FTE 0.6)

Speldhurst Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant who has the ability to inspire, nurture and support our well-motivated pupils.

Speldhurst is an Outstanding school and this is a great opportunity to join our happy and motivated team. The school has a strong Christian ethos and is at the heart of the Speldhurst community.

The successful candidate will hold a formal qualification as an HLTA, QTS or have extensive experience as an HLTA. The ability to cover PPA, undertake whole class teaching for short periods, plan and deliver intervention programmes and support SEN pupils is essential. The post is term-time only, 3 Days per Week. Strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential and the ability to play the piano and run a school choir would be a huge advantage.

The ideal candidate will be a well organised practitioner who is able to use their own initiative and also be able to work as part of a team. You will be flexible in your approach, completely reliable and always enthusiastic and positive.

Having a good working knowledge of the National Curriculum in both KS1 and KS2 would be a great advantage. Empathy and an ability to establish good working relationships with staff, parents and pupils are essential.

Necessary Experience:

  • Qualifications - HLTA or QTS, or extensive experience as an HLTA
  • Good standard of education (GCSE English and Maths)
  • Strong ICT skills
  • The ability to take responsibility for PPA, whole class teaching for short periods of time and intervention programmes.

Desirable Experience:  

  • Ability to play the piano and run a choir
  • First Aid Qualification
  • Ability to run an after-school club
  • Artistic/display ability

Speldhurst Church of England Aided Primary School is in a village 3 miles from Tunbridge Wells in Kent and is at the heart of a thriving village community. We are a small, caring school with just 214 pupils so it is possible to know every child.
