We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and creative Cover Supervisor with SEND specialism to join our friendly, caring and dedicated team.

Previous experience with children who have special educational needs is essential as is experience of a Cover Supervisor position.

 Purpose of the Job:

 To supervise whole classes undertaking pre-prepared activities provided by a teacher during the short-term absence of a classroom teacher. The primary focus is to maintain order and to keep pupils on task.

To organise and maintain personalised learning experiences for a small group of SEND children outside their classroom setting.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  1. Supervise pre-prepared activities and self-directed learning in the short-term planned / unplanned absence of teachers to provide continuity of learning for pupils.
  2. Prepare the classroom/outside areas for lessons, ensuring that resources are available and cleared away at the end of the lessons as appropriate.
  3. Manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking work.
  4. Collect any completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher.
  5. Report back as appropriate using agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.
  6. To organise and maintain personalised plans for individuals who are working outside their classroom setting by liaising with teaching staff and the Inclusion Manager.
  7. To help with the keeping and compilation of observations and assessments for a small group of children with SEND needs.
  8. To lead on teaching and learning experiences in a small SEND setting.
  9. To support individuals or small groups of children with SEND in their classroom setting.
  10. To support individuals and groups of children with SEND in unstructured times such as lunchtime and playtime.
  11. To support and help develop the practice of the school’s Wellbeing Team.
