This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly committed graduate looking to undertake teacher training and pursue a career in teaching physical education.

The successful candidate will have a sports related degree, be educated to A-Level standard and have significant sports coaching and/or teaching experience. Whilst completing the Graduate and Registered Teacher Programme through our registered training provider, you will have the opportunity to work alongside supportive and experienced practitioners within an outstanding PE department. In recent years PE has achieved consistently strong academic results in GCSE, Btec and A-Level qualifications, whilst offering an extensive extra-curricular sports programme. This has led to numerous successes in district, county and national competitions across a range of sports.

Initially teaching a reduced timetable that focuses on practical KS3 PE, you would receive mentoring and additional support to develop your skills as a practitioner. Teaching commitments would progressively increase throughout the training programme to eventually incorporate theory classes. The successful candidate would be expected to make a significant contribution to extra-curricular sport at St John’s, leading sports clubs and teams on a weekly basis. There is also the possibility to continue teaching at St John’s and undertake your NQT year (subject to interview and assuming availability of a relevant teaching post).

We want to hear from you if you…

  • have a passion for Sport and Physical Education
  • are serious about pursuing a career in teaching Physical Education
  • energetic and have a ‘can do’ attitude
  • able to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential
  • have high levels of commitment and professional standards

We offer:

  • Dedicated and experienced colleagues who will actively support you in this new role
  • Opportunities to teach across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
  • Commitment to professional development
