Meadows School is a successful non-maintained day and residential special school (7-19) and off-site primary school run by Barnardo’s, providing education for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Speech and Language difficulties and associated learning difficulties.

The school has a 19 acre main campus and operates several sites and buildings across the local area.

 

CARETAKER/GROUNDSPERSON/DRIVER

Salary Scale – Barnardo’s D18A (£18,220.15 TO £21,316)

Hours of work: 36.25 with flexibility

 

Ideally to start as soon as possible

 

We require a Caretaker/Groundsperson/Driver who can;

  • Assist and support the Premises Supervisor in school and grounds maintenance tasks
  • Work as a part of the maintenance team to ensure the buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard
  • Liaise with other maintenance staff and contractors and ensure compliance with legislation and Barnardo’s procedures
  • Ability to work flexibly on a variety of tasks

 

And who has;

  • An understanding and awareness of health and safety legislation and implementation
  • Experience of building maintenance, repairs and grounds work
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to tasks
  • A clean driving licence
  • A willingness to undertake further training

Information about the school

Meadows School is a successful non-maintained day special school (7–19) incorporating an off-site primary campus run by Barnardo's. The school provides education for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties; Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Speech and Language difficulties and associated learning difficulties. Students all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or are in the process of obtaining one. We offer placements on a 38 week Monday-Friday basis. Meadows School provides education and care for up to 100 students. The main campus is a 19 acre site with a large purpose-built school building, a gym block and post-16 provision. There are 8 classroom bases and several subject-based rooms including; science lab, IT suite and Food Technology area. The primary campus is in Tunbridge Wells and caters for KS2 students. Currently some 80 staff are employed across the school.
