Details about the post

Design and Technology is taught on a half yearly rotation with Food Technology during year 7 and 8.  Students follow a forward thinking curriculum that develops their understanding of key knowledge alongside practical skills.  In year 9, students can choose to continue with the subject area and complete an introductory unit in preparation for further study at KS4.  We currently offer OCR Design and Technology, WJEC Engineering and WJEC Hospitality and Catering at KS4. The popularity of the area has been steadily increasing with a pleasing number of students choosing this as an option from year 9 onwards.  The department is well resourced in terms of curriculum time and latest equipment in order to deliver a cutting-edge curriculum.  There are 2 workshops with traditional machinery, 1 computer room with a bank of 25 computers, 2 theory-based rooms and 1 CAD/CAM room which is resourced with a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, 20 computers with access to SolidWorks and 2D Design, five 3D Printers, CNC Router and milling machine.

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to designing an engaging and exciting Design and Technology curriculum. The ability to deliver engineering, polymers, metals and timbers will be advantageous.

The successful applicant will be joining a highly supportive and collaborative department.  We welcome applications from NQTs or from more experienced teachers who are looking to further develop their career.

Applications considered upon receipt. Interview date to be confirmed.

To apply, please submit a completed application form to Mrs K Eagle, k.eagle@hernebayhigh.org

Please do not apply for this position unless you are as committed to safeguarding, the prevention of extremism and radicalisation; and promoting the welfare of children as we are at Herne Bay High School.  Applicants must be willing to undergo comprehensive child protection screening including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.
