Are you an ambitious English teacher looking for the next career step with responsibilities?

We seek to appoint an excellent, well organised and dedicated teacher to teach English across KS3-5 from September 2019. This post carries a TLR for Second in Department.  We are a high achieving and ambitious Grammar School where students and staff are supported to be the very best they can. As such, we offer staff an abundance of professional development opportunities. We have excellent facilities and have a very supportive community of staff, students, governors and parents.

You will be able to:

  • Take responsibility for boys’ achievement in Key Stage 3 English
  • Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of the Key Stage 3 English curriculum
  • Ensure assessment accurately evaluates pupils’ success according to curriculum objectives
  • Develop a research based approach to ensure that the best teaching practices are embedded in the department
  • Support colleagues to teach excellent lessons
  • To increase the range of extra-curricular activities delivered in the department
  • Work collaboratively within a team of staff.

English is a popular subject at A-Level and it would be helpful for applicants to be able to teach to that level.

WSGB is member of the Endeavour MAT family of school, which pride themselves on setting consistently high expectations, securing outstanding outcomes and delivering exceptional standards of teaching and learning for all. Our students are encouraged to develop resilience and are supported to become innovative and thoughtful problem solvers. A collaborative approach to improving outcomes for all, is a characteristic of Endeavour MAT staff. We provide comprehensive, professional development opportunities via our Teaching School NWKTSA and have an innovative staff development programme, which truly empowers teachers to take control of their own professional training.

We can offer you a dynamic and supportive environment in a thriving and forward looking Trust.

Closing date: Friday 31st May 2019, with interviews to take place as soon as possible.  The school reserves the right to interview sooner if it reaches a high number of applications.

Application forms are available on our website under ‘Vacancies’ and should be returned to recruitment@wgsb.org.uk or contact Mrs Owen at jowen@wgsb.org.uk.
