Required for immediate start – a teaching assistant to join our friendly, supportive and highly successful school. This is a temporary position, linked to High Needs Funding, at 27.5 hours per week.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced individual to work 1:1 with a child in KS2. We are looking for someone who is flexible in order to fill this unique role; experience of working with children with special educational needs will be advantageous. The successful candidate needs to show enthusiasm for the role, as well as being patient and prove they have the skills to help this child to feel comfortable at school, enabling them to fulfil their potential. We require someone who works well within a team and who can use their initiative to help support individual needs. Initially you will be supporting the child at an alternative setting for part of the week, and managing their reintegration.

It is important that any applicants have the required experience and skills that we are looking for.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have some knowledge or experience working with children and young people with SEND and strong behaviour management.
  • Have the energy and enthusiasm to provide personalised learning experiences to children with SEND.
  • Have a calm, patient and encouraging manner, with an ability to make learning fun.
  • An ability to be self-motivated and manage time effectively in order to maximise children’s learning time.
  • Flexible and willing to support the child in a variety of situations, possibly including on the playground at lunch time.

It is essential that the applicant has good literacy/numeracy skills and should preferably hold a teaching assistant qualification.

Information about the school

Our popular, oversubscribed school is situated in the beautiful Weald of Kent. Our aims are straightforward. We strive to develop the intellectual, spiritual, moral, social and cultural needs of each child through inspirational teaching. We value the support of the parents to achieve this. The school enjoys extensive grounds, providing a multisurface playing area, pitches for football, rounders and running tracks, an orchard, pond, herb gardens and small vegetable patches. This is an exciting time to join Colliers Green; we have been lucky enough to have been granted funding for new classrooms which are currently being built and the successful candidate will be able to play an active role in creating a brand new classroom. Forest School is an important part of our curriculum which is run in an area of woodland next to the school and led by two of our staff. Our Ofsted inspection in March 2019 graded us as Good. Our dedicated team of staff and governors work together to create a school where there is a real sense of family and where good teaching can flourish. Please come and visit us!
