We are seeking a well organised and efficient person to take up the post of Clerk to our Governing Body. We have a strong Governing Body with governors who are committed to their role.

The role involves clerking for three or four Full Governing Body meetings, six Strategy Committee meetings, three Resources Committee meetings and one Admissions Committee meeting over the course of the year.

With attendance at the meetings, preparation and follow up work, we anticipate this role needs someone able to commit approximately 200 hours a year. Our meetings are currently held either: early morning (8am – 10am), late afternoon (3.15pm – 5.30pm) and early evening (5.30pm – 7.30pm).

Previous experience of Clerking is not essential but some experience of working in a role where accuracy in recording meetings would be very useful. It is vital that our Clerk is computer literate and confident using email as a form of communication.

In order to apply, please complete the online application form.

Informal visits to the school are welcome; please contact our School Secretary to arrange an appointment; office@chevening.kent.sch.uk or 01732 452895

Information about the school

We are a thriving, one form entry school within an idyllic village setting with excellent road connections. The school has close links with St. Botolph’s Church, Chipstead village, and Chevening House. We have been graded as Good by OFSTED (2019) and Outstanding by church SIAMs (2017) inspections.

Chevening children are enthusiastic and enjoy learning. The staff team is diligent and dedicated to providing the best education for the children.

We are inspired by the Parable of the Mustard Seed (Matthew 13: 31-32): “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” and aim to provide an excellent education by being

  • true to Christ and His teachings.

  • known for kind and thoughtful actions and attitudes.

  • inclusive in serving, sharing and showing God’s love to benefit all.

This Biblical Vision underpins our discussions, decisions and direction; our school values are well-established and alive in all we do. We are seeking individuals who can uphold this ethos.

If you want to know more about this opportunity we would love to hear from you.

Chevening (St Botolph's) CE (VA) Primary School is committed to equal opportunities and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment.
