The Federation of Barnehurst Schools are seeking to appoint a Family Engagement and Wellbeing Leader.  This is an exciting new role for our school and marks the commitment from the school to support children’s emotional wellbeing and mental health and also continuing to develop our close working partnership with families.

The Federation of Barnehurst Schools comprises of two outstanding schools. We value our community and the school has built a strong reputation for excellence over the years.

We are the founding school of The Primary First Trust, which currently consists of eight primary schools in Medway, Kent and Bexley.  This gives us a wide support network and allows our staff to grow professionally and our children to achieve excellence.

The role will involve:

  • Leading the school strategy of promoting wellbeing of all stakeholders throughout the school
  • Raising attendance levels, particularly vulnerable of families
  • Managing, implementing and reviewing the strategy for the child and family work within the school promoting involvement of all groups of parents
  • Overseeing the child protection work and cause for concern records for the whole school       
  • Identifying and address the needs of children and families who need help to overcome barriers to learning
  • To support families to be the best parents they can be so that they are able to support their child’s learning and well-being

We are looking for someone who has recent experience of working within a school setting supporting children and their families and engaging families in school life. The role will form part of the middle leadership team within the school and the candidate would need experience of managing and leading teams. 

The candidate will also need:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • To maintain confidentiality
  • To liaise with a wide range of internal and external contacts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; building strong working relationships with the rest of the team.
  • Excellent communication skills to build and foster positive relationships with parents and children.
