Teacher of Art and Photography for September 2019

Wye School is part of United Learning, a group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full potential.

Wye School opened in September 2013 with a single intake of Year 7 students. This September we welcomed our first Year 13 students and will have reached the end of our growth story. This is a mixed comprehensive (all ability) school. In December 2018, Ofsted praised our, ‘very vibrant and strong leadership … clear and aspirational vision,’ and, ‘high level of ambition for the students and the school.’ We are a relatively small and very friendly school with new buildings, supportive parents and well behaved and hardworking students. We are over-subscribed in Years 7-11 and rapidly growing our new 6th Form.

We are now looking to add to our close-knit team of dedicated and dynamic teaching staff.  We want to appoint a Teacher of Art and Photography who is capable of teaching Photography at GCSE and A Level and Art to at least Key Stage 3 standard, with GCSE and A Level a plus. There is the possibility of an additional Head of Year role for the right candidate.

We welcome applications from candidates with varying degrees of experience, including NQTs.

Applications will be considered on receipt. Suitable candidates will be interviewed on receipt of application and Wye School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

To arrange an informal visit, please contact caroline.castle@wyeschool.org.uk

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. A DBS (previously CRB) check is required for all successful applicants.

Information about the school

Wye School opened in September 2013 with a single intake of Year 7 students who delivered our excellent first GCSE results in August 18. We are a mixed comprehensive (all ability) school. Ofsted praised our, ‘very vibrant and strong leadership... clear and aspirational vision,’ and, ‘high level of ambition for the students and the school.’ We are over-subscribed and are only interested in appointing teachers who aim to challenge and fully support outstanding progress for every student.
