“Some of the most wonderful people are the ones that don’t fit in to boxes’’

If this quote resonates with you then READ on as we have the perfect job for you!

We are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher to become Upton’s SENCo.

You do not have to currently have AEN/SEN leadership experience but will need to show a real commitment and dedication to inclusion. The most important thing is that you have an uncompromising passion for teaching and believe that you can make the necessary contribution to ensuring the best start for every child.

As we are committed to ensuring that we recruit the right person for this position, we can be flexible with how this can work.

The SENCo role can be a part-time position for those seeking to reduce their working hours.

Alternatively, we will consider a full-time position, with the SENCo role combined with a teaching responsibility.

 Our SENCo will:

  • Have qualified teaching status
  • Be passionate in regards to SEN - our pupils deserve a first class educational experience. You must firmly believe this and be prepared to question practices in the school that do not match the high standards we expect from every member of the Upton staff.
  • Take the leading role for inclusion throughout the school
  • Have responsibility for pupil well-being, safeguarding and child protection
  • Be an excellent role model for staff and pupils
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external agencies and have an understanding of current AEN procedures
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Lead LAC and medical needs alongside SEN
  • Good communication skills and an ability to work within a team
  • Good time management and organisational skills and experience of leading/ managing other staff

 Our commitment to you:

You can expect:

  • 510 talented pupils, each deserving a SENCo that will willingly go that extra mile to ensure they succeed
  • Excellent CPD including SEN training for the right candidate
  • A supportive school community with excellent facilities
  • A well supported staff team, committed to ensuring that all pupils achieve their potential

Prospective candidates will be expected to make a visit to the school and meet with Miss Darci Arthur, Head of School.  To book an appointment, please call 01843 861393 or email headofschool@uptonjunior.com
