The Spring Partnership Trust are seeking to appoint a talented and dynamic Head of School at Leesons Primary School from the start of the 2019-20 academic year. As well as having day-to-day oversight of the leadership and management of the school, you will also work closely, with the support of the Executive Headteacher, to develop an exciting, happy, successful and creative school.

Leesons Primary School is located in the suburban town of Orpington in south east London. It is on the borders of beautiful Kent countryside but less than 20 minutes from central London by train. The school is situated in leafy surroundings with a large forest school and extensive playing fields. This year it is being extended into a two form entry primary school with a brand new nursery. There are currently two forms of entry up to year 3 and approximately 310 pupils on roll. The school was graded as good by Ofsted in 2017.

The school is part of The Spring Partnership Trust (TSPT), a ‘primary school only’ multi academy Trust based in Bromley. The Trust currently consists of Hayes Primary School (HPS), St Mary Cray Primary Academy (SMCPA), Dorset Road Infant School (DRIS), Castlecombe Primary School (CPS), Midfield Primary School (MPS) and Leesons Primary School (LPS). Overall, the Trust has a turnover of approximately £10M and comprises 2,000 pupils and 250 staff.

You will be joining a very ambitious and forward thinking organisation, so we are seeking outstanding candidates who want to develop themselves to support our educational vision, provide strong leadership and effective support to colleagues and raise standards for our pupils.

The school has strong relationships with its close neighbouring Spring Partnership Trust schools, MPS and SMCPA. From August 2018 (please note the Trust operates a 2 week half-term in October and the Autumn term therefore starts at the end of August) the three schools will share the same Executive Headteacher and their Heads of School will work together with the Executive Headteacher, and the SLT within each school, to form a strong senior leadership team for the three schools.

This would be an excellent opportunity for an ambitious existing Senior Leader to work alongside the experienced Executive Headteacher to develop excellent skills and to further their career development.

Continuing to teach part time is an important aspect for all the school leaders within the Spring Partnership Trust.

Leesons Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share that commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a number of pre-employment checks including a DBS check, proof of ID, medical clearance and the right to work in the UK.

We are proud of our diversity and inclusive culture in our work place. We welcome all applications regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership.

Please refer to the Recruitment Pack attached for further information on the school and the role. The application form is available online or contact our HR Officers on 020 3121 1115.

Visits are strongly encouraged and very welcome. If you would like to arrange a visit please telephone the LPS School Office on 01689 602786.

Information about the school

Leesons primary school is set in an attractive grounds incorporating sports fields, a mature forest school, developing opportunities for further outdoor learning and the Opal play curriculum. The school was expanded in 2014 and will be at full capacity as a two form entry primary school by September 2020. Recent building works have resulted in a new nursery, classroom block, hall and dance studio.

The school is a member of the Spring Partnership Trust multi academy trust and works especially closely with neighbouring schools of St Mary Cray and Midfield. An executive Headteacher supports the three Heads of School in these schools. The wider trust partnership of six schools offers many opportunities for professional development as well as mutual support. School leaders are currently working on a range of improvement strategies to further develop wellbeing and raise standards across the trust.
