Information about the school

Bryony School is a successful co-educational independent school for children aged 3 to 11 years based in Rainham, Kent. We were established in 1956. We have small classes of between 10 and 16 with around 130 pupils on roll over two sites - Marshall Road in Rainham (Pre-school and KS1) and Meresborough Road in Rainham (KS2).

Bryony School doesn’t just have a family ethos, we live by it. We value courtesy, consideration and respect for others, these are fundamental to school life and evident to even casual onlookers. At every level in our school, good manners and consideration of others are natural characteristics. Year 6 pupils are able to act confidently as mentors to the younger children. Staff know and understand every single child working hard to ensure each child feels secure and happy within a warm, friendly environment. Equally the children themselves know everyone and celebrate all our children’s successes, performances and sporting achievements as they pass through the school. We are proud of the fact that several parents are former pupils and some teachers are former parents; this all contributes to the strong community feel here.

We offer a wide range of subjects and activities, pursued to the highest levels. We have consistently high expectations of every child which leads them to achieve their potential. Our pupils’ achievements in the local 11 plus examinations are consistently high. Children benefit from specialist teaching from Year 3. There is a holistic approach to academic study, as well as a keen focus on sports.
