Appointment of a Full-Time Teacher of Science

Start Date: September 2019

Opportunity, for the right candidate, to become a Pastoral Learning Manager or hold a curriculum responsibility within the Science Department (TLR2b)

Information for Applicants:

Borden Grammar School is committed to providing students in Swale with every advantage that being a selective school can offer. That the school has secured two Good and improving Ofsted reports in 2013 and 2016 is also reflected in the improvements shown within Science at KS4 in particular during this period.

Science is both a popular and successful subject at Borden. The Key Stage 4 curriculum begins in Year 9 and during Year 10 students are guided into the Separate Science or Combined Science pathway. Within Key Stage 5 all three Science subjects are popular options, but the challenge is to improve our value added in this key stage.

The post is equally suited to somebody seeking to join the profession or looking for career development by securing a new post. Most importantly you will want to make a significant contribution to the quality of education boys receive at this school.

Application process:

Applicants should apply by 12noon on Tuesday 7 May 2019 and should be aware that the school will consider the merit of early applications if the quality of early applications necessitates such a response. Candidates who are currently in post should submit their application at the earliest possible opportunity to facilitate the interview process.

If you would like to apply, please return a fully completed application form leaving no gaps in employment (available on our website). Please do not submit a CV, but feel free to provide a letter of application as a continuation of the application form.

Pastoral Learning Manager: Candidates wishing to be considered for an additional responsibility as Head of Year should indicate this on their application and it will be discussed at interview. You may request from the Headteacher’s PA, Ms Bateman, the most recent job description for a Pastoral Learning Manager.

Additional Curriculum Responsibility in Science could include overseeing a Key Stage etc.
