Advert

We would like to recruit an experienced school finance professional to join our friendly team at Penshurst CE Primary School.

The Bursar would be responsible for all financial procedures within the school, from weekly processing of orders and invoices, to monthly payroll reconciliation and budget monitoring, to annual closedown and budget setting. He or she would work closely with the Headteacher and Finance Governor on strategic financial management to ensure that the school plans effectively for the future.

The successful candidate will have significant financial experience within a school environment and will be familiar with KCC procedures and compliance requirements. The position may suit someone who is already undertaking a similar role within another school and would like to take on additional work, or a finance manager who is looking for their next move. The right person for the role will be efficient, confident and professional, with the ability to combine an excellent eye for detail with an understanding of the broader picture.

In return, we can offer a very friendly school community with a welcoming and supportive leadership and staff team. The school is located in a beautiful, historic village with extensive grounds and on-site staff parking.

The hours of work would be one day per week (term time only plus INSETs); there is some flexibility over the day and exact hours worked. Candidates may wish to note that the school is also currently advertising for an Administration Manager for four days per week. There may be an option to combine these two positions into one full time role; candidates should indicate on their application form if they would be interested in doing this.

We would ideally like the successful candidate to start work at the beginning of Term 5, but there may be some flexibility on the start date.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please contact Catherine Taylor in the school office if you would like to make an appointment.

Information about the school

We are a small village church school, at the heart of our community, set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have 80 pupils taught in four classes: Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.

The school plays a very active role in the local and wider community and provides many opportunities for children to develop their talents and interests, whether this be in the sporting competitions we take part in or in our wide range of extra-curricular clubs.

Our staff team is small, friendly and mutually supportive, which we believe is a real strength of our school. Our Christian values are important to us and are at the heart of all we strive to achieve. We encourage all members of the school community to walk in the shoes of others; - demonstrating our understanding of the needs of others as well as promoting kindness at every opportunity.
